Ever wondered why the bliss of an asana session at your favorite studio doesn’t follow you out the door? So did we!
NoMatYogis Marianne & Pia write about their learnings as yogis on and off of the mat. They write about asana practice, how to eat clean and how to live green. They are passionate about the yoga lifestyle and invite you to join the NoMatYoga community!
Pia is a Dutch cellist and yogi who lives in the USA. During her Doctoral degree, she healed an injury with yoga and is hooked ever since. She works as a freelance cellist and hopes to hold a professorship someday where she can teach both cello and yoga. Besides cooking up a storm, which is just part of daily life :), she loves creating in any shape or form. Just like Marianne, Pia enjoys going outdoors to take photographs with her husband Jamie!
Marianne is a Netherlands-based-yogi who is just about to finish her 200hr Teacher Training at Open Yoga in Groningen. She would love to have 30hr days and have even more hobbies than she already has. Marianne is a Personal Body Plan enthusiast and works as a project manager for a fast growing online technology company. Besides yoga, work, training in the gym and cooking she loves going on a stroll with her camera and reads a million magazines and blogs!
What’s in a Name?
NoMatYoga is the result of two yoga friends both on their way to bring yoga into their daily lives. Both Marianne and Pia had been engaging the idea of creating a platform to share thoughts, learnings and photography and it just seemed like the next logical step to start NoMatYoga together. It is exactly what is says it is: yoga without a mat, or, bring yoga into your daily life whether that involves a mat or not.
To create our logo we did a whole lot of sketching and brainstorming and we were lucky enough to work together with the awesome wearedesignerz.nl team in Groningen.
We, Marianne and Pia, live on opposite ends of the ocean and yet here we are creating a blog together. The infinity sign reminds us that no matter where we live, we can always be connected with our ‘kalianamitra’ or soul friends. Us yogis, let little lights shine bright all over the world, NoMatYoga is our humble contribution to that.
